After Trump won last week I felt pretty numb. I honestly do not want any subs who voted for Trump. I don’t expect to have many, but if you’re here, you are not welcome. There are so many reasons for this, as this is a safe space for queer people and a space that supports women and their rights. On top of all of that, Project 2025 calls to make all porn against the law and for it to be a felony for those that create it. I make porn, and understand how outlawing porn is a huge slippery slope to losing our 1st Amendment Rights.

I’ve seen the porn blame game be on the rise a lot lately. And it’s really scary because it comes from both sides. Whenever men behave badly we blame porn. Porn has existed since the beginning of humans. Humans are sexual creatures. We need to reject this puritanical backlash.

Being involved with nudist groups really taught me how puritanism really leads to us making things more sexual. I have had men shocked at how they forget I’m naked after just hanging out naked chatting in a group of nudists. Bodies do not have to be sexual. A woman’s ankles used to be a scandalous thing to see. Now an ankle is mainly seen as an ankle. The more religious and puritanical a society, the more everything becomes sexualized, especially women’s bodies.

Not only do women’s bodies become more sexualized with these repressed views, but also queerness and sex education. Anything queer becomes seen as sexual or pornographic under these views. No queer characters because god forbid a young person see that a queer person exists. No sex education because if you just ignore it then it sex won’t exist (I grew up with abstinence only sex education and it does not work and leaves people more vulnerable to sexual abuse).

There may be porn out there you don’t agree with. But you wouldn’t want someone else drawing the line for you on what’s acceptable. Porn should be created in safe, sane, and consensual conditions. When working to get rid of abuse in the porn industry we should be listening to porn creators. We should work to lessen the stigma so it’s not impossible to exit the industry and find other work. We should solve the issues around banking discrimination that can push people into unsafer sex work when they lose access to banks and have to rely on cash only. We should support sites that allow creators to be in control of their own content rather than having to work with a studio who makes the rules.

Men aren’t awful to women because porn exists. Joe Rogan has probably done more damage to young men than porn when it comes to how they treat women. Porn is just the regular easy scapegoat.
